The Evanston Police Department will host a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. on June 20 in the Parasol Room of the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave.
The meeting, the first in a series of such meetings hosted by the Police Department and facilitated by Dr. Gilo Kwesi Logan, will focus on cultural awareness and community policing.
The objective of these meetings is to engage in a positive and productive conversation with the community while working to develop feasible solutions to community concerns. Subsequent town hall meetings, the dates for which have not yet been set, will focus on the following topics Drugs, Gangs and Unresolved Homicide Cases-Date; Social Media, Crime Prevention and Community Policing; and Rights, Responsibilities and Reasonability in Evanston.
The Evanston Police Department invites citizens to join in thoughtful discussion. The format of the meetings will be a facilitated panel discussion, followed by a question-and-answer session. Residents are asked to submit questions prior to the meeting through the City’s website, cityofevanston.org.
