At the June 12 District 65 School Board meeting, Superintendent Paul Goren thanked Mary Brown, Chief Financial Officer, and John Price, Assistant Superintendent of Schools, for their work at the District.
Dr. Brown, who served as the District’s Chief Financial Officer for the last 12 years, is retiring. Dr. Goren said Dr. Brown has been “devoted, committed, and dedicated to the children here in District 65.” He presented a gift to Dr. Brown in recognition of her “outstanding work.”
Mr. Price, who served as the District’s Assistant Superintendent of Schools for the last three years, is taking on the position of Superintendent of North Chicago. “When I think of John, I think of the deep engagement that he brought to the job in all aspects of running the schools, working with principals, and really driving excellence throughout the system,” said Dr. Goren. “He’s been a champion of our principals.” Mr. Price was also presented with a gift in appreciation of his service.
The Board unanimously approved the appointment of Raphael Obafemi as the District’s new Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Obafemi previously served as the Chief School Business Official for Mokena School District 159.
Dr. Goren also announced that Stacy Beardsley would be Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. Ms. Beardsley previously held the title Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Peter Godard who previously held the title Director of Research, Accountability, and Data, has taken on the title Chief of Accountability, Equity, and Organization.
