On July 3, at approximately 4:37 p.m., detectives from the Neighborhood Enforcement Team were in the alley of the 7200 block of North Hamilton Avenue, Chicago, when they observed a 20-year old Evanston man, whom they knew had an arrest warrant outstanding for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, said Commander Joe Dugan of the Evanston Police Department.  When the man saw the detectives, he fled, but one of the detectives was able to apprehend him. Police found a loaded Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun with an extended magazine in his right pants leg, said the Commander.

The outstanding arrest warrant related to an incident in which the man allegedly fired shots in the 1600 block of Foster Street in Evanston on Feb. 17, said the Commander. No individuals were struck by the gunfire, but two separate residences in the area were hit.

The man was charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm at Person  and other charges.
