Tickets are now on sale for “Sweet,” written by Harrison David Rivers and staged by Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre. Performances will take place July 15-30 on Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes St.
The play tells the story of Retha and Nina Baker, sisters who have always been close – folding laundry together, chasing fireflies together, and enduring the summer heat together. Set on the outskirts of an all-black town in rural Kansas, “Sweet” is a coming-of-age story about the sacrifices made to hold on to loved ones.
Tickets are $15 in advance online at fjtheatre.com and at Evanston recreation community centers. Tickets may be purchased at the door on the performance day for $20. Seniors and students with ID can purchase tickets at a discounted price of $15 at the door only.
