The Evanston Wilmette Golf Course Association has received a donation of $4,000 from the Izaak Walton League of America to support its efforts to develop and implement an ecological master plan for Canal Shores Golf Course. The donation was made in a special presentation ceremony held at Canal Shores on July 18. John Sundquist, president of the Frank Anetsberger Chapter of the League, presented the check to Association President Chris Carey. The chapter, based in Northbrook, serves communities throughout the North Shore.

In accepting the donation, Mr. Carey said, “This is a generous donation that will help us complete funding of the ecological master plan. Our effort is to ensure the sustainability of the golf course, by preserving and enhancing natural habitats, and implementing best practices in golf course management to protect this important green space along the North Shore Channel.”

Mr. Sundquist said, “This ecology grant is aligned with the goals and objectives of the Izaak Walton League. We look forward to working together with Canal Shores on future projects.”
