On Aug. 6, at approximately 10:58 p.m., a police officer saw two persons in the 1400 block of Ridge Avenue punching and kicking another individual who was on the ground, said Commander Joe Dugan of the Evanston Police Department. When the offenders saw the officer, they fled on foot.

The person on the ground said the two offenders had robbed him of his cellular phone. Upon checking the area, the officer located one of the persons he observed battering the victim, hiding in the bushes in the 1500 block of Oak Avenue. That person, a 22-year old Evanston man, was taken into custody and charged with one count of felony robbery and another charge, said the Commander. The second offender was not located.

The victim, an 18-year old Evanston male, was treated by the Evanston Fire Department for a bloody nose and swelling around his right eye.
