The City will be contracting street improvements on Dewey Avenue from the cul-de-sac south of Simpson Street to the dead end north of Payne Street. Work is scheduled to begin the week of August 21 and is expected to last six weeks.
This project involves concrete curb and sidewalk ramp replacement as needed, road base repairs, milling of the existing asphalt surface and repaving with two layers of new asphalt pavement. Funding for this project is from the City’s allotment of federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.
The exact date construction activities are scheduled to begin will be noted on temporary construction zone “No Parking” signs posted a minimum of 48 hours in advance of the work. Parking will be prohibited during daytime work hours (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) during this time. Street cleaning parking restrictions will be waived for a one-block radius around the construction zone when temporary daytime “No Parking” is in effect.
Lawn sprinkler systems located in the parkway or adjacent to the public sidewalk should be identified and marked by the property owner prior to the start of construction to prevent damage to the system. Every effort will be made to minimize any inconveniences during construction.
The general contractor for this project is Schroeder and Schroeder, Inc., 7306 Central Park, Skokie, IL.
This project is monitored by the City’s Capital Planning & Engineering Bureau. For questions or concerns during construction, please contact the Resident Engineer Angeleo Alonzo at 224-723-7487.
