Free storytime program registration opens August 28 at the Evanston Public Library for weekly, limited enrollment programs beginning in September. EPL storytimes encourage a regular library habit, provide active fun, and give adults and children a chance to meet together in a supportive and positive community environment. Evanston Public Library storytimes for young children use books, songs, play, movement, and art experiences to support early literacy education.
Registration starts on Monday, August 28 at 9 am for weekly storytimes and programs for kids from infancy to 5th grade. These programs include Infant Rhymetime (for children under 1), Book Babies (1 year olds),Time for Two’s (for two year olds), 123 Play with Me (1 -3 year olds), All By Myself (3 -5 years), Family Storytime and Craft (3 – 7 years), Caldecott Club (1st – 5th grades), and Tail Waggin’ Tutors (K – 2).
123 Play with Me is offered on Saturdays.
Caldecott Club is a terrific introduction to reading, enjoying and evaluating picture books. Mr. Brian (who was on the national Caldecott Committee this past year) will be leading these sessions and teaching kids as they enjoy the very best picture books of 2017.
Tail Waggin’ Tutors offers readers a chance to practice their reading skills by reading to patient, loving dogs with big listening ears.
