Evanston/Skokie School District 65 is inviting all interested residents to attend a community session to learn more about the district’s tentative budget for the 2017-2018 school year. Spanish interpretation will be provided at all three sessions. Event details are as follows:

Tuesday, September 5, 6:30 to 8 p.m. – Chute Auditorium (1400 Oakton St)

Wednesday, September 6, 6:30 to 8 p.m. – Haven Auditorium (2417 Prairie Ave)

Thursday, September 7, 6:30 to 8 p.m. – Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center (1655 Foster St)

“We are looking forward to hosting these sessions as a way to promote transparency and to engage our community in the financial side of our public school system. Our goal is to ensure taxpayers are informed as to how the annual budget supports the education of District 65 students,” said Raphael Obafemi, District 65 Chief Financial and Operations Officer.

The presentation will detail the district’s 2017-2018 tentative annual budget and how instructional programs are financed. In addition, District 65 administrators will share information about the impact of school funding reform on the tentative budget. A public hearing and presentation of the FY18 Tentative Budget will be held as part of the Regular School Board Meeting on September 25, 2017 at the Joseph E. Hill Education Center (1500 McDaniel Avenue, Evanston) beginning at 7pm. The School Board will vote to approve the budget at this meeting.

“Our team recognizes the significant financial investment made by this community in overwhelmingly passing the referendum this April,” said Superintendent Paul Goren. “We are deeply appreciative of this support and remain committed to safeguarding these funds to address projected budget gaps through 2025.”
