In the recently completed FINA World  Masters Swimming Championships held in Budapest Hungary, Evanston resident Stephen Mullins won a Gold medal, World Championship in the 800 meter free style event.  Swimming in the 85-89 year old age group, Mullins also won Silver in both the 400 meter freestyle and 3000 meter open water events.  

Mr. Mullins, a former All-American at Dartmouth College, has been competing around the world in Masters Swimming World Championships since their inception in 1986. He has won several National Championships, including two in Minnesota earlier in August  (400 and 800 meter freestyle). He is also a member of two world record holding relay teams in the 75+ age group.
