The City of Evanston Public Works Agency will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. on Sept. 20 to review Evanston sanitation services and fee charges. The meeting will take place in the James C. Lytle City Council Chambers, Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave.

The City of Evanston recently received proposals for sanitation services for Evanston residents, including collection of residential and condominium refuse and yard waste/food scrap collection. There were also proposals for a voluntary, stand-alone food-scrap program for businesses.

Staff is also recommending that the City implement a recycling program for multi-family apartment buildings with six units or more. Evanston employees would perform the services, which would require a monthly service charge.

The agency will review the Solid Waste Fund, discussing the revenue generated by existing sanitation fees and the expenses involved in providing sanitation services. They will also look at various methods of generating the revenue necessary to meet the expenses.
