On Sept. 21, at approximately 8:36 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of the Clark Street Beach in the 1800 block of Sheridan Road for a reported robbery. Three males, 16 year olds from Evanston, told police they were on the beach when three unknown juveniles approached, said Commander Joe Dugan of the Evanston Police Department.

One of the unknown subjects grabbed one of the victims in a headlock and pushed an object into his back, telling him it was a handgun.  The suspect demanded all of the victim’s property.  The victim turned over $10. A second victim turned over a green Sheffield brand pocket knife. The third victim attempted to flee on foot, but was tackled by two of the offenders who punched him several times in the torso.  No property was taken from the third victim.  All three suspects fled the scene on bicycles, said the Commander.

Officers responding to the area stopped two juveniles in the 1600 block of Hinman Avenue and a third juvenile in the 1900 block of Greenbay Road, all who matched the description provided by the victims, said the Commander. The juveniles, all males from Evanston, one 16 years old and two 17 years old, were positively identified as the offenders in the incident. The second victim’s pocket knife was recovered from one of the 17 year old offenders, said the Commander.

All three juveniles were transported to the Evanston Police Department and charged with Aggravated Robbery.
