At 10:10 a.m., November 23, Thursday morning Evanston fire companies responded to the 1000 block of Forest Avenue for the report of a structure fire in a large single family residence.
First arriving companies reported heavy smoke showing from the rear of the structure. The alarm was upgraded to a Code 4, ultimately going to a MABAS Box alarm to the box level. bringing in additional fire companies.from other communities.
The fire was reported by residents, who safely exited the residence. Fire companies found heavy smoke and fire conditions on the first floor of the structure extending to the second floor. The coordinated tactics combined with a quick response time by Evanston fire companies made the difference, and the fire was extinguished saving the home.
The fire is under investigation..There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported, but the family will have to relocate for a couple days.
