Over 300 student musicians will ring in the holidays when Evanston Township High School presents its Holiday Music Festival at 3:00pm on Sunday, December 17, in the ETHS auditorium. While the concert is free and open to the public, donations are accepted to support the ETHS music scholarship program that helps provide private music lessons to students who may not otherwise have the opportunity.

Two orchestras (String Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra); three bands (Symphonic Band, Freshman Concert Band, and Wind Symphony); and several choral groups (ETHS Concert Choir, Chorale, Vocal Jazz, Dazzling Dames and Advanced Vocal Ensemble) will perform contemporary and classical holiday pieces.

The orchestras will perform varied holiday pieces, including traditional British folk songs, such as “The Holly and the Ivy”, and the popular Christmas classic “Carol of the Bells.” Charles Abplanalp directs the ETHS orchestras. Band repertoire includes Christmas themes with several marches as well as “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” by Johann Sebastian Bach. Matthew Bufis and Haley Nichol conducts the ETHS bands.

The ETHS choral groups will be presenting a variety of songs of the season celebrating Winter, Christmas and Hannukah. Mary Theresa Reed directs the various ETHS choral groups.

Evanston Township High School is located at 1600 Dodge Ave., and the auditorium is wheelchair accessible. Parking is recommended in the lot directly across from the auditorium entrance on Dodge Ave.
