On Thursday, January 4, at 11:09 a.m., Evanston fire companies responded to the 2800 block of Sheridan Place for the report of a structure fire in a three-story single-family home.

First arriving companies encountered a fire that began on the second floor of the residence and quickly spread to the third floor. The response was upgraded to a 3-alarm fire, bringing in fire companies from nearby communities for assistance.

The fire was extinguished at approximately 1:45 p.m. Residents were not home at the time of the fire. No civilian injuries, but one firefighter was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
