The Little Brown Girls Book Club brings moms and daughters together to encourage early literacy. The group meets once a month at YoFresh Yogurt Café on Chicago Avenue. After the stories are read to them, the girls engage in follow-up activities. “These related early literacy activities are critical to school achievement,” said Jean Murphy, Ph.D., a retired professor of education and co-owner of YoFresh. “Kudos to their parents who through their own vision and foresight have the clear understanding of their role as primary educators of their children.”  Photo from YoFresh
