A 15-year old male from Chicago has been charged in connection with the carjacking of an 84-year old woman’s car on Sheridan Road and Davis Street, said Perry Polinski, Media Relations for the Evanston Police Department. The carjacking took place on Feb. 1.

On Feb. 4, Evanston police detectives recovered the victim’s vehicle unoccupied in the 5800 block of South Peoria Street in Chicago, said Mr. Polinski. Detectives identified the 15-year old male as the driver of the car that rear-ended the victim’s vehicle and spoke with the victim while a second subject drove the victim’s vehicle away from the scene.

On Feb. 13, detectives took the juvenile into custody, and he was charged with one count of felony Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking, said Mr. Polinski. The second subject, who remains unidentified, is still at large, he said.
