The following are recent vote totals as reported by Cook County Clerk David Orr. The RoundTable is reporting votes for races in which Evanston residents are candidates in Democratic primaries: Governor; State Representative of the 17th District; Cook County Commissioner of the 13th District; and Commissioner of MWRD.
It appears that J.B. Pritzker has won the Democratic primary election for governor, with 42% of the vote and 1,477 of 1,599 precincts reporting. Daniel Biss appears to be second with 27.69% of the vote. Chris Kennedy is a close third with 26.94%.
In the race for Democratic candidate for State Representative of the 17th District, Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz won, receiving 7,620 votes, or 36.48%. Candance Chow received 7,023 votes, 33.62%, and Mary Rita Luecke, 3,471 votes, 16.62%.
Larry Suffredin, incumbent, has a commanding lead in his bid for re-election to the Cook County Board. With 139 of 154 precincts reporting, he has 59.33% of the vote. Bushra Amiwala is second with 25.21%. Daniel Foster has 15.46%.
On the Republican side, Republican D. Vincent Thomas lost his bid to run against Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky in the November election, having garnered 19.19% of the votes. The apparent winner of that race is Sargis Sangari, with 33.77% of the votes.
