Semari Diamond Moore was crowned Miss Evanston on Feb. 3 and represented Evanston at the Miss Teen Globe pageant in Oak Park on March 17.

Semari has been on the honor roll since Chute Middle School. She most recently received an award from the ETHS Black Caucus group for her academic achievements. She plays on soccer, basketball, and volleyball teams and dances in PomKits. She has been recognized by her teachers and coaches as a leader who helps other students in need. Her current goals include bringing awareness to cancer and helping bridge the gap between people of different backgrounds and capabilities, as well as to attend college to become a plastic surgeon.

“Semari is a great student, athlete and leader in her school,” says her mother, ETHS alum Kemone Hendricks. “I’m so proud of her already, but I’m extra proud of her having been crowned Miss Evanston and continuing to show her classmates and other teenagers what can be accomplished through dedication and
hard work.”

The sponsors for Miss Evanston include Evanston Mayor Steve Hagerty, ETHS Principal Marcus A. Campbell, ETHS Superintendent Eric Witherspoon, Le Chic Hair Design’s Natacha Francois, Glamma Baby Inc., Bordeaux Studios, Karen Kring and Fanciful Images.
