The Justin Wynn Fund held its Annual Red Tie Soirée on Feb. 10, raising more than $41,000, to be used to support the Justin Wynn Leadership Academy, a community service-based youth leadership program in Evanston.

The Justin Wynn Fund honored Kim Hammock and Harvey Pranian as co-recipients of the 2018 Buddy Portugal Award, which was created in 2002 and is given annually to recognize adults who have made outstanding contributions to Evanston’s youth.

Ms. Hammock serves as the Executive Director of Books & Breakfast, and she has been instrumental in expanding the program into an independent non-profit that serves multiple District 65 elementary schools. Mr. Pranian founded the annual celebration of Young Evanston Artists, the YEA! Festival. He founded the YEA! Festival in 1987 and he served as its director for 30 years.
