Evanston’s track and field team scored its 11th straight Central Suburban League South indoor championship with a dominating performance on March 16 in newly-christened Willie May Fieldhouse. The Wildkits won 11 of 16 events and piled up 177 points in the standings, beating out New Trier (85), Maine South (75), Glenbrook South (67), Niles West (50) and Niles North (42).
Coach Don Michelin’s team swept to 1st place finishes in all 3 relays. In the 3200, the team of Joe Eovaldi, Nick Baumann, Matt Bates and Alex Tokmakoff won in 8:30.37. In the 800, the quartet of Sacrad Michelin, Jonathan Wilburn, Isaac Hunter and Marquis Rivera ruled in 1:35.34, and the Kits capped the sweep in the 1600 when unit of Wilburn, Bates, McMichael and Ayoub El-Ashmawi combined for a winning time of 3:36.60.
Crowned as individual champs for ETHS were Davis Patterson, 11-0 in the pole vault; Gabe Cheeks, 20-9.75 in the long jump; Trey Dawkins, 51-9.5 in the shot put; Wilburn, 44-11.75 in the triple jump; Sacrad Michelin, 6.85 in the 55 and 23.66 in the 200; Julion Michelin, 52.62 in the 400; and Logan Singer, 2:00.25 in the 800.
