On March 17, at 09:15 p.m., Evanston police responded to the McDonald’s located at 1117 Howard Street to investigate a stabbing. The victim was involved in a verbal altercation with another subject inside the McDonald’s, said Commander Ryan Glew of the Evanston Police Department. The verbal altercation escalated into a physical altercation. The victim was stabbed several times by the offender. The victim sustained life threatening injures to the abdominal area. The offender fled on foot prior to officers arriving.  The victim was transported to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, said the Commander.

On March 20, Evantson police officers arrested a 32-year homeless man on an unrelated matter. Once in custody, the man admitted to being the offender in the stabbing, said the Commander. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved 1 count of Attempt Murder, added the Commander.
