The Evanston Wilmette Golf Course Association announced that Canal Shores Golf Course will be one of three host venues for the celebration of SPACE’s Tenth Anniversary in Evanston. Concerts will be held at Canal Shores on July 27 and 28.

SPACE, the renowned music venue, will celebrate ten years of live music with Out of Space, a full summer of outdoor concerts, from June 21 – Aug. 26, at Canal Shores, on Dempster Street and Temperance Brewing.

Headlining the concert at Canal Shores on July 27 will be Grammy-award-winning singer and Chicago civil rights icon Mavis Staples who will perform with special guest Marc Broussard. They will be welcomed by 93XRT, a media partner on all the Out of Space summer events. Staples, who rose to prominence in the 1960s alongside The Staple Singers, won a Grammy for her album You Are Not Alone, produced by Jeff Tweedy of Wilco.

“Canal Shores is thrilled to be a part of this special celebration in our community. SPACE is unique and has brought first class entertainment to the City for ten years. Since 1919 Canal Shores has been a special green space in our community offering a venue for recreation and entertainment serving our neighborhood. We are thrilled to welcome great names in music and talent to our spectacular setting along the banks of the North Shore Channel,” said Chris Carey, president of the Evanston Wilmette Golf Course Association which oversees operations of the golf course.
