Congress designated April 8-14 National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, a time to honor the thousands of 911 telecommunicators who respond to emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment and render life-saving assistance to the citizens of the United States. The Evanston Police Department acknowledges the telecommunicators of the Evanston 9-1-1 Communications Center and thanks them for the outstanding contributions that they make day in and day out to the safety and well-being of not only the citizens of Evanston, but the public safety first responders as well.

April was also National 911 Education Month. The Evanston Police participated in “9-1-1: The Number to Know” campaign. Some of the themes were “Call If You Can, Text If You Can’t, “Know Your Location” and “Stay Calm and Do Not Hang Up.”

Those wishing more information about “9-1-1: The Number to Know” should call Evanston Police Department Communications Coordinator Perry Polinski at 847-866-5070 or visit know911.org.
