The Morton Grove Niles Water Commission (MGNWC) said in a press release issued on April 27 that it will begin construction of the new water pumping station and water transmission lines at 2525 Church St. in the next two weeks. This project will provide the villages of Morton Grove and Niles access to Lake Michigan water via the City of Evanston’s supply system. The City of Evanston will charge a fee for treating and transmitting the water.
MGNWC says construction will occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; pedestrian access to homes will remain open at all times; residents who are impacted will be notified 48 hours in advance of parking restrictions.
Residents of the area have opposed the project. The City’s department has refused to consider their appeals.
