The Evanston Police Department will be hosting its Annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. The ceremony will be held in the Council Chambers at the Lorraine Morton Civic Center located at 2100 Ridge Ave.
Officers will be receiving awards from the over 30 nominations made in 2017. The nominations were stemming from a wide array of police work including emergency responses, long term investigations and community engagement efforts.
Two officers will be receiving EPD’s Officer of the Year Award, Officers Enjoli Daley and Adam Howard, for their community engagement efforts.
Officer Daley is a 12 year veteran of the department and has been assigned to the Problem Solving Team for the last five years. Officer Daley’s community outreach efforts are extensive. Officer Daley sits on the boards of Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault and Curt’s Cafe. Officer Daley has chaired the annual walk a Mile in Her Shoes event that aims to bring awareness to sexual violence.
Officer Daley has demonstrated a drive to engage the department with Evanston’s youth. Her drive has recently produced the relaunch of Evanston Police Explorer’s Post. Officer Daley is also working to develop STAR (Skills To Achieve Results) Academy which is a program that will mentor middle school aged girls and promote responsibility, respect and self-awareness.
Officer Howard is a 10 year veteran of the department and has been assigned to the Problem Solving Team for the last three years. In 2017 Officer Howard partnered with District 65 and co-founded an after-school mentoring program known as The Officer and Gentlemen Academy (OGA). OGA is designed to minimize disparities through education, inspiration, and empowerment so participants can reach their full potential.
Officer Howard has not only engaged Evanston’s youth. Officer Howard has been involved with Evanston’s senior citizens by acting as a BINGO caller at the Foster Senior Club monthly meeting.
Both Officers Daley and Howard received the Kiwanis Club of Evanston’s Distinguished Service Award on May 8, 2018.
All are invited to come recognize the fine work done by all of the recipients. The event will also be live on the department’s Facebook page.
