Anna Guillemin was honored as the 2018 Phyllis Ganser Outstanding PTA Volunteer of the Year at the May 7 District 65 School Board meeting.

The honor is given to a person who exhibits a commitment to the PTA goal of promoting the welfare of all school children, a willingness to work in any capacity, even behind the scenes, a spirit and enthusiasm for volunteer work and an ability to engage and involve other volunteers.

Ms. Guillemin served as President of Park School’s PTA and in that capacity she reached out to families and advocated for everyone, said her nominators. She worked to improve programs at Park School, including after-school and summer school programs, she worked with the Park community in helping to select a new principal for the school, and she provided leadership in the effort to raise nearly $150,000 in a little more than one year for the renovation of the Park School playground.

Other volunteers nominated for the award were Julie Cutter, Jodie Ford, Libby Harrison, Shannon Lang, Antje Mangold, Nicole Marks,  Nancy Marshall, Jeanne Noone, Erin Sacluti, and Isabel Schultz.

The Ganser award was established to honor the memory of Phyllis Ganser, an outstanding PTA volunteer. At the time of her death in January 2000, Ms. Ganser had children at Walker School, Chute Middle School and Evanston Township High School.
