On May 7 the District 65 School Board approved a recommendation to appoint Max Weinberg as the next principal of Lincolnwood Elementary School. Mr. Weiberg’s selection followed an extensive process that included the Lincolnwood community, and interviews by a committee of teachers, parents and administrators.
For the last three years, Mr. Weinberg has served as Head of the Lower School at Catherine Cook School in Chicago. Before joining Catherine Cook, Mr. Weinberg served as an Assistant Principal in the Chicago Public Schools and the Winnetka Public Schools. He supported elementary teachers as an Induction Teaching Coach at the University of Chicago’s Urban Teacher Education Program, and has taught at Chicago’s Francis W. Parker School and at schools in the South Bronx and Harlem, NY. He has served as a university level math education instructor, a literacy consultant, and has worked with community-based organizations on the development of educational programming.
Mr. Weinberg is pursuing a PhD in Educational Leadership from Concordia University. He holds a master’s degree in elementary education from Bank Street College of Education, NY, a master’s degree in school administration and supervision from Fordham University.
“Mr. Weinberg is dedicated to the Evanston community. He looks forward to supporting meaningful teaching and learning opportunities for Lincolnwood’s diverse community,” said District 65 in a prepared statement. “He plans to support teachers in creating experiences for students so they see themselves as capable community members who build a better world for others.”
