The City of Evanston announces facility closures and service schedules for the Memorial Day holiday weekend, Saturday, May 26 through Monday, May 28.
Memorial Day Community Reflection and Ceremony
Due to construction in Fountain Square, Evanston American Legion Post 42 will host a community reflection and ceremony honoring America’s fallen heroes at Patriots Park, located at Sheridan Road and Davis Street, on Monday, May 28 at 10 a.m.
No collections will occur on Monday, May 28. Monday through Thursday trash, yard waste and recycling collections will occur one day later in the week than normal. Friday condo recycling collections will occur on Friday, June 1.
Parking meters/pay boxes and downtown parking garages will be free on Memorial Day. In addition, other restricted areas that have signs that prohibit parking except on holidays will be honored on Memorial Day.
The Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center will be closed May 26-28. All Evanston Public Library locations will be closed Sunday, May 27 and Monday, May 28.
The Chandler-Newberger Center and Evanston Ecology Center will be closed May 26-28. The Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, Levy Senior Center, Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center, Robert Crown Center and Noyes Cultural Arts Center will be closed May 28.
All Evanston beaches will open for the season beginning Saturday, May 26. Beaches will be open on Memorial Day. Beach admission fees apply. Learn more at cityofevanston.org/beaches.
Through Friday, June 8, beach hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. From Saturday, June 9through Labor Day, beach hours are 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The 311 Service Center will be closed on Monday, May 28. The 311 Center will also be closed on Saturday, May 26 and Sunday, May 27 according to its normal operating schedule.
