The League of Women Voters of Evanston has selected Jordi Amaral to receive its inaugural scholarship to a graduating senior at Evanston Township High School. The scholarship was awarded on May 16 at ETHS’s Senior Scholarships Night ceremony.

While in high school, Jordi interned with a state senator, traveled across the state to canvass for a political party and directly worked on three political campaigns, including two for alderman and one for City Clerk. He has also served as an election judge and has worked to increase voter participation in elections through the Civic Engagement Committee of the Community Service Club at ETHS. In addition, he has participated in and played a leadership role in the Emerge Leadership Program at ETHS.

While engaged in his various civic activities, Jordi earned a 4.5 GPA and became a member of the National Honor Society. He will attend college in Washington, D.C.

The League believes that, through his actions, Jordi Amaral exemplifies civic engagement and citizen participation in the political process.
