Fortunately, there is still time to enjoy the community arts initiative that is Evanston Made! Founded in 2012 to facilitate engagement between the public and Evanston creatives, this initiative has grown to include annual events, pop up shops, curated art exhibits, and artsy fun for both kids and adults. All events take place in June at locations across Evanston.
The month kicked off with the fifth annual Evanston Made Studio Tour on June 2, which offered a myriad of options for those who took self-guided tours of artist studios and galleries in Evanston, using maps that are available online and in print.
Evanston artists Beth Adler and Alice George have opened the doors of the Adler/George Studio every year for the event. Located at 1125 Florence Ave., the studio is a welcoming space, infused with light and beautiful artwork.
“It’s great to see how Evanston Made has enlivened the neighborhood. It’s been a boon for Evanston’s West Village area – in defining it as an arts friendly district,” said Ms. Adler, who is a member of the Evanston Arts Council.
The Evanston Made Pop Up Shop Sip ’n Shop is a ladies-only night of art, shopping and community on June 28 at the Evanston Art Center from 6 to 8 p.m.
