The North Shore Mosquito Abatement District (NSMAD) has found the first West Nile virus-positive mosquitoes to occur in their traps in Evanston this year. Batches of mosquitoes collected on June 25, 2018, from NSMAD traps in Evanston, Glencoe and Northfield, tested positive for West Nile virus in its lab on June 26.

Yesterday’s Lake Michigan temperatures, according to the National Weather Service, were 69 at the Chicago shore, 63 at the Chicago crib and 61 at the Wilmette buoy.
