The National Weather Service reports that yesterday’s Lake Michigan temperatures were 68 at the Chicago shore, 61 at the Chicago crib and 66 at the Wilmette buoy.

Lincoln Street Beach, which used to be called the Northwestern Beach, is open. Rules and policies governing the other City beaches apply here. Parking in the NU garage is $8 until 4 p.m. and free afterward.

The City wishes to remind dog-owners that dogs are not allowed on any swimming beaches in Evanston.


The knitting circle meets tonight and every Tuesday at the Chicago Avenue/Main Street Branch of the Evanston Public Library. Drop-in – for grades 6-12. 5 p.m.


It’s
International Plastic Bag Free Day, and National Chocolate Wafer day, both self-explanatory holidays.

It’s also Disobedience Day –dedicated to social or civil disobedience.
