The National Weather Service reports that yesterday’s Lake Michigan temperatures were 65 at the Chicago shore, 62 at the Chicago crib and 66 at the Wilmette buoy.

Today folks can buy produce at the Downtown Farmers Market, recycle electronics and nearly everything else that is non-toxic  and build treehouses at the North Branch Library.

  • Downtown Evanston Farmers Market features 58 vendors. LINK cards accepted. Spud Club for kids ages 2-10. Oak Avenue at University Place. Through Nov. 3
  • Evanston Recycles recycling and shredding event. Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Ave. Begins at 9 a.m. and ends at noon. Lines are long but the service is efficient. 9 a.m.-Noon.
  • CAMS Family Film & Craft: “Early Man.” Runs 1 hr., 29 min.; rated PG. Chicago Avenue/Main Street Branch of the Evanston Public Library. 11 a.m.
  • “Let’s Build! Skyscrapers, Treehouses and more!” from cardboard, plastic cups, soda bottles, and other recycled materials. North Branch Library, 2026 Central St.  11:30 a.m.
