At the annual Chamber of Commerce-sponsored art fair – formerly the Fountain Square Festival and now the Artisan Summer Festival – the bright white booths lined Sherman Avenue and Church Street, offering visitors the opportunity the see and purchase the works of more than 100 artists.

There were paintings of the power of the natural world and the nature and power of celebrity, jewelry to reflect any mood or style, a cool drink in the summer heat or a comfy quilt when the weather gets cold Evanston hospitality was front and center, as volunteers from the Chamber of Commerce took care of artists’ booths while they took a break for lunch or refreshments.
