ED-RED, an education advocacy organization serving Cook, Lake and DuPage counties, has selected Sarah Hartwick as its new Executive Director.
Ms. Hartwick will lead ED-RED in bringing together suburban schools to advocate on behalf of suburban public school students.
“Sarah has the extensive advocacy expertise and superior communication skills necessary to represent ED-RED school districts in Springfield at this critical time for public education in Illinois,” said Executive Board Chair Gretchen Livingston.
Ms. Hartwick has more than 10 years of education advocacy experience in Springfield with a variety of agencies, including the Illinois State Board of Education, Advance Illinois, legislative staff and Illinois Head Start Association. She holds both a B.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in Public Education from the University of Illinois at Springfield and has recently been selected to participate in the 2018 Class of Edgar Fellows.
“ED-RED members include some of the highest-achieving districts in this State, with unique challenges. Growing up in the suburbs provided me with first-hand experience into those challenges. My experiences at the capitol, ISBE and Advance Illinois have afforded me the opportunities to seek solutions to those challenges while collaborating with education advocates across the state. I am very excited about this opportunity and for the future of ED-RED,” Ms. Hartwick said.
