Mudlark Theater announces the departure of Executive Director Michael Miro, who has expressed his intention to step down from the role later this fall.
Mudlark’s Board of Directors will conduct a search for a new Executive Director, with the intent of filling the role as soon as possible. Interested parties may view the job posting at mudlarktheater.org/jobs.
In his eight years of service at the non-profit youth theater, Mr. Miro was the architect of Mudlark’s growth from a tiny nonprofit to a thriving arts organization serving thousands of Evanston kids. He has also personally taught classes at almost every school in Evanston and directed more than 25 productions.
“Michael will be sorely missed,” said Judy Kemp, President of Mudlark’s Board of Directors. “Under his leader ship, Mudlark has reached new heights and built a foundation for a very bright future. Our incredibly talented and dedicated staff will work with a new Executive Director to continue Michael’s legacy of creating exciting theater and education programs that build character, on stage and off.”
As Executive Director Emeritus, Mr. Miro will remain a member of Mudlark’s circle of teaching artists and directors.
In an email to the Mudlark community, Mr Miro expressed his intention to continue his artistic collaboration with Mudlark Artistic Director Andrew Biliter, a 17-year directing and teaching partnership that predates their time at Mudlark.
Mr. Miro said, “Collaborating with Andrew has been the professional privilege of a lifetime, and I know that our work together is not finished.”
