It’s Sept. 14, the 257th day of the year; 1089 days remain in 2018. The National Weather Service reports that yesterday’s Lake Michigan temperatures were 72 at the Chicago shore, 70 at the Chicago crib and 69 at the Wilmette buoy.

Today is the last day for people to sign a book of remembrance for Mayor Lorraine Morton in the anteroom of the City Council Chambers.

Last night at the City’s budget outreach presentations, we learned that the shortfall is $7 million. Since City Council appears to be committed not to raise property taxes, residents can expect increases in other taxes and fees and possible reductions in services.
