It’s Sept. 19, the 265th day of the year; 100 days remain in 2018. The National Weather Service reports that yesterday’s Lake Michigan temperatures were 75 at the Chicago shore, 69 at the Chicago crib and 71 at the Wilmette buoy.
It is also Yom Kippur. Blessed New Year to you all.
Evanston continues mourning the loss of its beloved former Mayor, Alderman, and District 65 teacher and principal, Lorraine Morton.
The City created an area in the Morton Civic Center to honor Mayor Morton’s memory so community members could visit and sign a book of remembrance last week. This area has been moved within the building to the Fleetwood-Jourdain Art Gallery on the second floor. Visitors may drop by during regular business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Friday, September 21.
