Gang-Related Shooting on Howard Street
Evanston police have shared few details about the three people – males in their late teens – shot on Sept. 20 at 112 Custer Ave., just north of Howard Street. Evanston Police Commander Ryan Glew told the RoundTable on Sept. 21the three victims – one with minor wounds, one originally listed as in critical condition and one in serious condition – are all expected to survive. He said he did not know whether any of them lives in Evanston but said they “frequented Evanston.”
Commander Glew said the police are “pretty sure” shooting is gang-related but added they do not know whether the shooting stemmed from a fight over guns, a robbery, disrespect of gang members or gang rivalry.
