In recognition of Fire Prevention Week, October 7 to 13, the Evanston Fire Department invites community members to attend a Fire Prevention Open House from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 7,  at Fire Station 2, 702 Madison St.

Planned activities include the following:

Auto extrications and technical rescue demonstration

Safety demonstrations

Children’s Firefighter Challenge Course

Fire and life safety educational activities for the entire family

This year, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire Prevention Week theme is “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere.” The NFPA encourages community members to:

Look for places fire can start

Listen for the sound of the smoke alarm

Learn two ways out of each room
