Family Fitness Day at The Mather was all about play. Residents and their families had an opportunity to get fit while having fun. Multiple generations engaged in friendly competition that included a hula hoop contest, egg race and water balloon toss.

Organized by Life Enrichment Manager Chrissy Hernandez and her team at The Mather, the inaugural event focused on the remarkable benefits of intergenerational play and activity. In planning the event, Ms. Hernandez was inspired by the quote, “We don’t stop playing because we get old; we grow old because we stop playing.” Simply put, play is good for our bodies and our brains.
