Central Street businesses gave back on Oct. 20 when more than 30 Central Street merchants and service providers participated in a first-of-its-kind event to benefit the Evanston Art Center. Many of the participating businesses donated a percentage of the day’s sales directly to the Art Center. Others contributed prizes that customers who made purchases were eligible to win.

The day began with an opening reception at the EAC at 1717 Central St., where visitors were treated to free tours, and kids crafts and light refreshments were available. The EAC’s mission is to provide accessible arts education and arts enrichment experiences to the community and surrounding areas. The EAC partners with neighborhood organizations and schools to offer classes and programs for youth, teens, adults and seniors.
