Bob Logan, 63, beloved husband of 38 years to Martha (nee Potts), passed away Oct. 20. Devoted father of Marilyn (Ryan Hall) and Robert III “Bobby” (fiancée Anna Coyle), and doting Poppa to grandson Calvin Kelty Hall.
Loving brother to Catherine Stembridge (George Stembridge III), Andrew (Margaret Susan), and Charles (Jamie). He leaves behind wonderful sisters- and brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews, friends and business associates.
Mr. Logan and many of his family members have incredibly strong Evanston ties. A lifelong Evanstonian and Backlot resident for 45 years, Mr. Logan met Martha Potts playing touch football in the Backlot in 1971 and they soon were childhood sweethearts. Wanting their children to have similar life experiences, the couple moved their young family to the Backlot and lived there 20 years.
Mr. Logan’s wife, sister and daughter are known by many due to their careers at the City of Evanston and Northwestern University, respectively. His son, “Bobby,” closely followed in his footsteps; he is an accountant and is working toward his MST degree at DePaul University.
His late mother, Joan (nee Lamb) Logan, lived in Evanston for more than 80 years and worked at ETHS for almost 30 years. She married the late Bob Logan, Sr., in spite of his growing up in Wilmette and being a New Trier Trevian. They settled in Evanston in 1954 (on the Backlot, of course)!
Mr. Logan enjoyed running, boating and fishing. Following brain cancer treatment in 1999, he trained for and summited Mount Ranier in 2001. He retired from his CPA firm due to illness 10 years ago. A date is pending for a celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Multiple Myeloma Foundation at tribute.themmrf.org/BobLogan.
