There was mirth aplenty at the “Parade of Fashions” at Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center on Oct. 28. The annual fashion show and fundraiser of Evanston’s oldest senior club, the Foster Senior Club, attracts visitors by the score.

Young, old and in-between showcased their talents and their style. Alice Turner, 98½, read the anonymous poem “I’m Fine,” with the refrain “I’m awfully well for the shape I’m in.” Eight-year-old Bella Evelanovski wowed the audience, wearing an ankle-length dress layered with pink tulle.

New this year were young men from the Officer and Gentlemen Academy. Introduced by Evanston Police Officers Adam Howard and Erv DeLeon, the Gentlemen first showed off their own attire, then stayed to escort anyone who needed support.

The event promised “Food, Fun and Fellowship,” and the afternoon delivered plenty of each.
