Two of the Library’s most accomplished children’s librarians are the perfect guides to reveal the state of excellence and diversity among picture books published in 2018. They will present Best Picture Books of 2018 at 10 a.m. on Dec. 1 in the Community Meeting Room of the Main Library, 1703 Orrington Ave.
The presentation is timed for holiday-giving ideas and for making the best choices in picture books to read any time of the year. All adults interested in children’s books, including parents, grandparents, teachers, childcare workers and librarians, will benefit from the education, entertainment and opinions to be expected at this lively event.
Evanston Public Library Collections Manager Betsy Bird and Children’s Librarian and picture-book selector Brian Wilson will discuss the best and brightest of the year’s picture books. Plus, special guest Cozbi A. Cabrera, the author of “My Hair is
a Garden,” will talk about how she creates her picture book illustrations.
No registration is required. This is not a storytime program for children, but a grown-up presentation for adults on the best in children’s literature, kind of an “Oscars” for Kids’ Lit.
