First Night Evanston returns this year for its annual New Year’s Eve event at a reasonable price. The event has been scaled back this year to one location, First Presbyterian Church, 1427 Chicago.
Family programming and an arts and crafts room (for making masks, hats, crowns and noise makers) run from 6-8. More adult but certainly family friendly fare begins at 8 p.m. with Corky Siegel, Chicago’s own harmonica blues player. Making a debut at 9:30 is the trio,
Standard American, led by Al Day with Charlie Madigan and Michelle Perry.
Sparklers will be available on the church steps just before midnight as a chorus leads the crowd in Auld Lang Syne.
Tickets – at $25 for adults and $10 for those under 18 – are available on Eventbrite.com, at the three libraries in Evanston and the City Clerk’s office, 2100 Ridge Ave.
