Benjamin F. Chavis Jr., a civil rights leader who began his career as a statewide youth coordinator in North Carolina for Dr. Martin Luther King, will deliver the candlelight vigil address on the national MLK holiday, at 7 p.m. on Jan. 21 at Alice Millar Chapel, located at 1870 Sheridan Road in Evanston.
Mr. Chavis Jr. is the current President and CEO of the National Newspaper Publishers Association.
Poet and spoken word artist Timothy Mays will open the candlelight vigil program that includes musical performances from Northwestern
student groups. A reception follows.
