In an email to parents and students on Jan. 10, District 202 Superintendent Eric Witherspoon said, “ETHS was made aware of allegations against an ETHS employee of inappropriate contact with students.” Dr. Witherspoon added, “School officials immediately launched a thorough internal investigation and took appropriate measures to inform the Evanston Police Department (EPD).”

The statement said further that the District is, “actively cooperating with EPD during their investigation and will determine what further action is necessary according to District policy.”

Commander Ryan Glew of the Evanston Police Department told the RoundTable that an investigation started yesterday, Jan. 9, into allegations made about an employee of Evanston Township High School. He said the allegations fell into a category of “inappropriate contact with students.” He said the employee was not a teacher, and that the investigation was ongoing. No charges have been filed.

Cmdr. Glew added that the EPD is working with ETHS on the matter.

Dr. Witherspoon said the investigation is a police matter and any person who may have information related to these allegations should contact the Evanston Police Department at 847-866-5000.
