City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz provided the following information about the severe cold weather clenching Evanston:

It was a relatively quiet night around Evanston.

Forty-seven people were housed at the emergency shelter overnight. Many volunteers helped out.

The Levy Center and Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center will be open for drop-in activities again today from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and can be used as warming centers.

The Fire Department responded to 41 calls for service on Wednesday. Most were ordinary calls not related to cold.

No Public Works issues to report at this time. Crews will be on hand for snow operations this afternoon.

No additional briefings are scheduled today. Updates will be provided as needed.
